Designed For WiFi Coverage Issues

As common household now regularly stream videos, video calls and the insurgence of smart home devices, COVR-1100 comes with MU-MIMO (2×2 + 2×2 internal antenna) that gives you better speed and optimization for the mentioned tasks.

You can also kiss goodbye to your WiFi deadzone spot as this AC1200 Mesh WiFi is able to cater up to 5,000 sq. ft, which means even if you’re living in a triple-storey house, it wouldn’t be an issue.

EasyMesh Certified

Networking gears used to be a “locked” product ecosystem as you gotta pair the different devices under the same brand just to get better performance due to different network profiles and settings.

Well not anymore.

EasyMesh certification is the latest WiFi standard initiated by WiFi Alliance, devices with this certification can interoperate without performance issues, even if they are not the same brand.

Happy to see that COVR-1100 is one of the few devices that comes with EasyMesh certification that promises interoperatibility with other EasyMesh-certified mesh products.

It’s a breakthrough in the industry as it gives you the flexibility to mix and match EasyMesh devices in your network.

Latest WPA3 Security

To our pleasant surprise, COVR-1100 actually came with latest WPA 3 security. It is the latest WiFi standard that offers better encryption and security!

Works as A Router or Bridge Mode

D-LINK COVR-1100 can directly replace and work as your router, or it can also act as a bridge/access point to work with your existing router to boost WiFi coverage.

How To Setup & Install & Setup COVR-1100?

Here are a few quick reminders before we proceed with the installation:

Speed Test – AC1200 Router vs COVR-1100

The purpose of this speed test is really to demonstrate the WiFi coverage, hence we will be comparing:

  • AC1200 router vs COVR-1100
  • Google Pixel as Speed Test unit
  • Areas of test:
    • Furthest room away (first floor – 2 walls)
    • Car porch (15M away)
    • Master Bedroom (second floor)

Speed test were done in a double storey house, speed test areas were picked based on weakest WiFi coverage, where in some cases, we had full WiFi but unable to stream videos.

Here you go with the speed tests:

Master Bedroom (second floor)

This is by far the best improvement where we only had 0.2Mbps on AC1200 router, after opting to COVR-1100, you can feel the impact directly.

  • AC1200 Router: 0.2Mbps download / ~0Mbps upload
  • COVR-1100: 55Mbps download / ~50Mbps upload

Furthest room away (first floor – 2 walls)

  • AC1200 Router: 97.5Mbps download / ~15Mbps upload
  • COVR-1100: 123Mbps download / ~50Mbps upload

Car Porch (15M away)

  • AC1200 Router: 40.9Mbps download / ~8Mbps upload
  • COVR-1100: 75.4Mbps download / ~50Mbps upload

Here are some overall download and upload speed segmented by different rooms for easier comparison:

Overall D-LINK COVR-1100 just works – it solves your WiFi headaches by giving you a better WiFI coverage. It also certified with EasyMesh certification and also latest WPA3 standard, which is nice to have.

If you’re looking for a decent mesh WiFi that works, do consider COVR-1100 as it is an affordable AC1200 Mesh WiFi with latest WPA3 security.

  1. I bought the COVR1103. My set up is Maxis 300mbps + Huawei GPON Terminal on Router mode.

My phone and Ipad can get connection, but my laptops having frequent disconnection (few times within an hour). When I FaceTime on iPad Pro 2020, always tries to reconnect even though I’m just 5meter away.

So, when my laptop Wifi disconnects, I connect laptop to COVR (both master and slave unit) using LAN. Ran ping -t on cmd prompt. Ping was <10ms all the time.

My laptop is Dell Latitude 7400 running Windows10.

      1. The solution I got from D-Link support is to disable the IPv6 by change it to “local connectivity only”
I am still observing connection as of now
